Ferriera di Cittadella is a world leader in the production of saw blades for granite. Established in 1956 for hot rolling of steel, it produces hot rolled flat bars and saw blades for cutting marble, stone and granite.
With its famous grooved blades it rapidly made a name for itself in the granite market. Currently Ferriera di Cittadella has a comprehensive sales network in all five continents and exports to over 60 countries..
The company’s two steel rolling production plants are highly automated and computerised. 65 years of experience in the sector enable the company to ensure consistently high physical-mechanical product characteristics.

Raw material quality control procedure
Alongside the controls guaranteed by the suppliers, we perform our checks on incoming material as required by the UNI EN 10025 rule.
Ferriera di Cittadella was among the first company in the sector to obtain certification in 1998.
Chemical, traction, hardness, impact strength and bending analyses are performed by sampling on every casting we receive.
The material supplied must comply with production requirements. During manufacture, the blades are tested in different phases to check that they correspond to the order.
The blade thickness is decisive for determining the number of square metres that can be obtained from a block. The cost-effectiveness of a process is determined by a quality product that guarantees accurate cutting in the long term. Precision thickness and constant product supply are therefore of fundamental importance. If the thickness exceeds the conventional tolerances the supply is no longer cost-effective.
The quality controls on the thicknesses we produce in our factories are a saving for our customers.

The two production plants are located in north-eastern Italy in Cittadella, province of Padua, and Riese Pio X, province of Treviso, 15 km from each other. The overall area is 50,000 square metres, 20,000 of which are covered. The two rolling mills guarantee a high production capacity of over 100,000 tons per year and are designed for the production of thin excellent quality blades.
The two factories are able to satisfy worldwide granite blade requirements with unbeatable production and delivery times. The hot rolled flat bars we offer satisfy niche requirements for thin blades which are difficult to find on the market.
Considerable investments in plant modernisation have been made over the years in order to develop and offer the products and services required by the market. In 2003 a new goods storage area was built in the deposit at Riese.
In 2014 a complete diamond wire unit has been created in order to supply our clients with a reliable and alternative tool for cutting granite and hard stones. In 2018 we began the research and development of the diamond blade for the cut of granite and stones and we created a new division dedicated to this purpose . After a period of study we started cutting trials on different materials at our plant in Riese.

Ferriera di Cittadella differs due to its quality control system for both incoming raw materials and during production. The material purchased is rolled only if it complies with the parameters established by the regulations
